Do you have experience working in social issues within fisheries? Do you have a background in seafood sustainability? Are you looking for an opportunity to work with an organisation with a vision for sustainable seafood supplies? 

If so, you could be a perfect fit for the Marine Stewardship Council.

This role involves working in the newly created Social Policy team within MSC’s Science and Standards department. 

You will contribute to the development and implementation of the MSC’s policies and assurance mechanisms on labour issues, particularly with respect to fisheries and undertake research and analysis to test emerging proposals for their feasibility, efficiency and effectiveness.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated individual, who also has:

• a degree or equivalent experience with specialist knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
o Fisheries, 
o Sustainable development, 
o Social policy, labour rights. 
• knowledge of standard setting systems, international norms, third party certification and assurance systems relating to fisheries and social or labour issues. 
• proven experience in the sustainable seafood sector and familiarity with social and human rights policy in fisheries.  
• relevant experience with policy development, developing procedures and technical writing. 

This is a fixed term contract for a period of 18 months.
