Senior Quantity Surveyor


About the Role:

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing Building & Infrastructure team. This is a senior position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects while contributing to the continued growth of the business, developing client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of quantity surveyors.


The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cost management and commercial services across a variety of infrastructure and construction projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

Project & Commercial Delivery

  • Prepare and review Bills of Quantities and pricing documentation.
  • Draft tender documentation, including Suitability Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs).
  • Produce cost plans, cost estimates and cost reports.
  • Assess tenders and prepare tender evaluation reports.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of construction contracts.
  • Attend site meetings, client meetings and multidisciplinary design team meetings.
  • Prepare interim payment recommendations and certificates.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.


Team Leadership & Client Engagement

  • Lead and support project teams to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Graduate and Project Quantity Surveyors.
  • Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the business.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and the ongoing development of junior team members.
  • Provide constructive feedback and contribute to team performance and capability development.


Quality & Professional Development

  • Keep up to date with industry developments, legislation and best practice.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to a culture of learning and professional excellence.


About You:

  • Level 8 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
  • Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g. SCSI and/or RICS).
  • Approximately 8–12 years' experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience using Cubit or similar estimating software is desirable.
