Part-Time Outdoor Education Officer

£28,356 – £30,108 per annum inclusive (pro rata)

Grade 7

EJR009013

Part Time – 21 hours 3 days a week

Position funded until October 2019

This exciting post was created following a successful award by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of Ealing Council’s Parks for People project to restore and develop the listed Walpole Park, the setting for the Grade 1 Pitzhanger Manor House.

The funded project has improved the heritage value of the park and created an active volunteering and events programme that improves skills, knowledge, activity and well-being through community involvement and engagement.  The park is one of Ealing’s best-loved parks with over one million visitors annually and hosts the Ealing Summer Festival every July.

The Education Officer, based in the park, will have an important role to play in the delivery of this project and ideally will have:

• experience of developing and delivering an outdoor educational programme linked to the national curriculum and the park environment and ideally be a Forest School Leader
• experience of working with children, young people, schools, community and voluntary organisations and families, preferably in the context of a park/conservation/heritage or related project
• first class communication skills

The Education Officer will work with Walpole Park Manager and the Pitzhanger Manor Gallery and Trust Outreach Officer to promote, encourage and develop the broadest range of involvement and activity that enables enjoyment and appreciation of the park, its wildlife and heritage by all its visitors.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

Ealing Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

This role is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.
