In this Waste Commissioning role, you'll lead major procurements, as well as contractual negotiations and support their implementation. Your efforts will ensure that our Waste Management Delivery Unit will continue to provide effective and efficient services by commissioning new service contracts, as well as maintaining existing waste contracts.

About us

The Waste Management team, made up Waste Commissioning, Waste Contracts and Waste Promotion Officers, is well respected within the Transport, Economy & Environment service at Buckinghamshire County Council. We were nominated and shortlisted for Team of the Year 2018 at BCC’s Workplace Heroes earlier this year. The work we do is fast paced and dynamic, but we are also a supportive and collaborative team.

About the role

In this role you’ll deliver waste management services by leading the commissioning of new services and contracts, as well as existing waste contracts. Two major projects for the coming year will be the recommissioning of our biowaste and household recycling centre contracts. You will be required to develop and deliver services with a high level of technical expertise, leading on complex waste procurements and contractual framework agreements. You’ll provide expert waste management advice to a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, for example colleagues, customers, councillors and senior officers.

About you

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you’ll have a strong background in a waste commissioning / procurement environment, together with a proven ability to contribute to service planning, improvements, and development activity.

An excellent communicator, you will be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, communicating changes in policy and strategies, as well as provide expert advice, guidance, and support on complex issues.

With experience of project management, you will demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage complex plans, prioritise and co-ordinate resources to deliver priorities within time constraints.

Please also note that access to your own vehicle is an essential requirement for the role as there will be a need to travel across the county to various sites.
