Aquaculture Planning & Engagement Manager

Crown Estate Scotland has an exciting and unique opportunity for an Aquaculture Planning and Engagement Manager to join our Marine team on a permanent basis.  The successful candidate will enable the Marine team to engage with regulators and stakeholders to identify marine aquaculture opportunities to add value for Scottish communities.  

This role based in our Edinburgh office with occasional travel to various locations within Scotland.

About You

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing where necessary and maintaining productive relationships with the marine aquaculture industry’s regulators and stakeholders to help optimise Crown Estate Scotland’s  role in the industry’s future growth. Developing and maintaining an up to date system of regulatory, natural heritage, marine user, coastal community and other relevant aquaculture industry stakeholder policies, interests and issues relating to all forms of marine aquaculture development will be integral to this. The role will also support asset management for existing and prospective developments and provide appropriate guidance to existing tenants and new applicants on matters relating to prospects for development.  It will manage a range of associated workstreams and projects to enable appropriate and sustainable optimisation of aquaculture on Scotland’s seabed. 

You should have demonstrable experience in developing an effective stakeholder network and excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. As a senior position within the organisation, the role will be expected to make a significant contribution to developing Crown Estate Scotland’s relationships across the range of organisations with whom it collaborates. You should be highly organised particularly in relation to data and records management. 

As the successful candidate will be responsible for the budget associated with their projects, experience in identifying, procuring and managing relevant database IT/software tools would be advantageous. Exposure to working with GIS would also be beneficial. Ideally complimented with a relevant degree in environmental, planning or data management, knowledge of Scotland’s marine economy such as renewable energy, fishing or coastal development would be advantageous.
