Following a restructure of Cultural and Community Services, this role will be a key member of the newly created Parks and Green Space unit. It will also contribute to achieving the Council’s commitment to tackling the Climate Emergency and its environmental ambitions within the Council’s Corporate Plan.

The role will see you make a direct impact on quality of life in South Derbyshire and require you to develop and improve the Council’s parks and open spaces including allotments cemeteries, outdoor sports/ games facilities, community facilities and nature sites. Close collaboration will be needed with both the Council’s Operational and Planning Services. With regard to planning, you will need to advise and comment on the landscape design elements of planning applications and support Section 106 and adoption processes.

You will be expected to take a leading role in protecting and enhancing the environment and work with partners and colleagues to develop a strategic approach to action for nature and nature recovery.

It is a role that requires a landscape architecture qualification, leadership and partnership working skills, good communication, an ability to think, plan and deliver strategically, manage a demanding workload and display a commitment to high standards, change management and meeting deadlines.
